This is a simple application that basically replaces the built-in VPN menu bar icon on Mac OS X. If the VPN connection drops, it will automatically reconnect. This applicaiton uses the built-in VPN support in Mac OS X, so it’ll only work with connections you can configure in the Network Settings panel.
Hi Jan, Please follow the steps given below, to use VPN connection on Windows Virtual Machine:. Open Configuration Editor and create a new Network Adapter using ' Add' button. Set Bridged mode for one of them and Host-only for the other. Connect to VPN from Windows, using these steps:. Open the Windows Control Panel Network Connections. Click ' Create a new connection' link on the left-hand side of the window. Click Next, then choose ' Connect to the network at my workplace' from the list and click Next.
On the Network Connection page of the wizard, choose the ' Virtual Private Network connection' and click Next. Enter a name for the new VPN connection in the ' Company Name' field and click Next. In the ' Public Network' window: If you choose ' Automatically dial this initial connection' as default option, the VPN connection will always be initiated even when the computer has not been connected to Internet yet. If you choose 'Do not dial the initial connection', Internet connection will be established before the new VPN connection is initiated.
Choose one of these options and click Next. Enter the name or IP address of the VPN remote access server to connect to, and click Next. In the ' Connection Availability' window you will see two options: 'My Use Only' ensures that Windows makes the new connection available only to the currently logged on user. 'Anyone's use' option makes the connection available to anyone. Choose one of the options and click Next. Click Finish. The new VPN connection information has been saved.
On Mac side use Internet Sharing in System Preferences to share Host-guest adapter connection with Mac network interface. Note: Firewall should be disabled on Windows side.
Many organizations provide VPN access for the end user in their company with third party tool named as Cisco VPN client. This doesn’t work on any 64-bit Mac OS. However, from Mac OS X 10.6, you can use in-built feature named as IPSec VPN,so you don’t need to look around for any third party tool. In this case, you might have to decode your.pcf file which contains all the configuration of your VPN setting. Here’s step by step guide for configuring it:. Open System Preferences - Network. Click “ +” to get more options where you have to select Interface “ VPN” and VPN Type “ Cisco IPSec“.
Here by give your proper description in “ Service Name” and click Create Once you create this, the main work out is to decode the “encGroupPwd” which you can’t simply copy and paste. Simply, open.pcf file that you got from your organization in any editor (e.g.: Notepad ), and copy host name and put it in your server address. Click Authentication Settings, and mention GroupName as per your pcf file. Now you will see encGroupPwd in your pcf file which you need to decode and put it in Shared Secret There are many ways for getting the clear group password. However, I recommend to use the this to decode it. Once you mange to setup all the required settings, you can simply press connect. Cheers, Udhyan.
